Forces as a musician with the Staff Band of the Royal Corps of Transport. During his fifteen years as principal flautist of the R. C. T. Staff Band, he toured many countries around the world including a State visit to Jordan with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2. Other duties included radio broadcasts, C. D. recordings and concerts. After leaving the Army, David went to study for a music degree, graduating from Sheffield University in 1998 with a B. A. The Flute Choir which includes all ages, regularly perform at concerts around Newbury (required standard is grade 5 to grade 8+) They also perform with our very own string section (comprising of 2 violins, viola, cello, acoustic guitar and piano) who accompany the flute choir for concerts. David is also a talented arranger for flute and wind ensembles writing music for the Newbury Flute Choir, Berkshire Maestros Ensembles and has also been commissioned to arrange music for schools ensembles. David also performs flute regularly in the orchestra for NOMADS (Newbury Opera, Musical and Drama Society) and BATS (Basingstoke Amateur Theatrical Society) David married Gayle in July 2017 having met at University. Gayle is also a music graduate of Sheffield University and a postgraduate in secondary music education of Reading University.
